Tucepi
Tučepi is located on the southern Croatia, in the Split-Dalmatia County, on the Makarska Riviera. This place is from Makarska 5.5 km away. This place, as a gift of nature, is situated below the mountain Biokovo (1762m), by the Adriatic Sea. Long and hot summers are here, and winters are mild and short, without the fog. Many winds are blowing through this area: bora, tramontana, south wind, libecchio, mistral, but there is more than 270 suny days a year. Whenever we mention this place, the first thing we think is the beauty of these beaches and perfectly clean sea. The longest beach on the Makarska Riviera is located in Tučepi. Pebble beach, about 4 km long, is stretching through the whole place. It is covered with pine trees which gives a natural shade. The beach is deservedly and permanently marked with a blue flag, which is today the world's highly prized tourist stamp. It is a major landmark in selecting destinations to many tourists. Along the beach, there is a beautiful promenade with a variety of restaurants, bars, shops and souvenir shops. At a white beach with crystal clear water, many tourists rest during the summer time. In Tučepi, there is also a marina for fishing and tourist boats and yachts. ... There is a plenty of hotels, tourist facilities, restaurants, taverns and bars…Year after year, Tučepi receive prestigious awards for the high quality of its hospitality and tourism services, and for decorating the place. During the summer «Tučepi summer evenings» are held in Tučepi. You can enjoy in entertainment and cultural events: concerts, theather plays, close-harmony singing, art exhibitions….. This festival begins at 13th June every year. This day is the day of Saint Anthony who is the patron of the parish Tučepi. For those who want to have even more fun, until the early morning hours, Makarska is nearby… Besides the entertaining and cultural content, there is also a football field with a few smaller ones and sport center «Slatina» which offers plenty of recreational facilities for children and adults. Recreational facilities can be found on the beach too. The offer includes: jet ski, pedal boats, parasailing, diving, and rent a bike. Tučepi is a very old village with nearly four millennia long past. The place has an ancient Illyrian name, « Tučepi» means-village near a water source. It would be nice to see three old towers: Tower Bušelić, Tower Lalić and Tower Šarić. Towers dating from the 18th century, and were used to defend against the Turks. They are located in the Upper Tučepi below the mountain Biokovo. Tourists often visit villages in Upper Tučepi because of the beautiful views, local culinary specialties and wines of a great quality. Another very well known manifestation: "Towards a culture of Tučepi hamlets" is taking place in Upper Tučepi during the summer. In the ambiance of old houses, which will take you to some ancient time, you can enjoy dramatic performances and traditional dishes of this region. Tučepi, due to its very favorable geographical position, allow trips to the nearby islands of Brač and Hvar and the cities of Split and Dubrovnik. Tučepi can be reached by car: using highway to the exit Šestanovac and then using state road to Tučepi, or using state road from Split to Tučepi. Split Airport, the nearest international airport, is 80 km away. Whatever the path of travel, one thing is certain: after the first visit, you'll want to return again.
